The Viaduct: Meyersdale Trailhead
Take a nice relaxing 12 mile family bicycle ride back to Rockwood from the Maple City, Meyersdale, PA. Start your trip by viewing one of the few original train stations left on the original Western Maryland Railroad. Then less than a mile into your ride cross the amazing Salisbury Viaduct, which was originally completed in 1912. The 1,908 foot long and 101 foot high bridge is a sight to see and ride across. It was converted into part of the Great Allegheny Passage for trail use in 1998. Enjoy the GAP while it wraps along the scenic Casselman River and through the Borough of Garrett back to Rockwood. There are plenty of opportunities to experience wildlife and nature scenes as you pedal this gradual downhill sloped trail. You will discover many photo opportunities along the GAP.
